Section 5 is a 13-mile rural section of
I-70 from east of Route Z (Mile Post 134) to west of Kingdom
City (Mile Post 147).
No communities abut I-70 in this section,
which consists mainly of farmland. Some businesses exist at
the sections two interchanges -- Route J and Route M. Other
features include the Little Cedar and Cedar creeks and the
University of Missouri's Tucker Prairie -- 146 acres of rare
grasslands with an interpretive trail.
The SIU5 team will work with the interests
of this section to ensure that improvement decisions take
into account local land use and environmental issues. The
team will be coordinating public involvement efforts with
SIU4 (Columbia) and SIU6 (Kingdom City).
